A Factor is a number or an integer which divides a number 'completely' or without leaving a remainder. Factors are also called as 'Divisors'.
Every number is a Factor of itself. 1 is the universal factor i.e it divides all the numbers completely.
The Multiples are often confused with factors. Multiples are obtained by 'multiplying' a number for x times.
Eg:
One ten times is 10.
1*10= 10.
But 10 is not a factor of 1 or a 'divisor' of 1.
Similarly,
50 is a multiple of 2.
2*25=50.
50 is neither a factor nor a divisor of 2.
Using the factors or divisors , the 'divisibility' of a number can be calculated. Divisibility of a number is the test of the 'divide-ability' of a number with the other given number.
Eg:
Is 4 'divisible' by 2?
4/2=2 with 0 as the remainder.
Therefore , Yes, the number passes the 'divisibility' test.
